Dr. Clay Cockerell is a board-certified dermatologist and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He currently sits on multiple boards and committees. Dr. Cockerell is internationally recognized for his contributions to both dermatology and dermatopathology. He is the past president of the American Academy of Dermatology. For many years, Dr. Cockerell has overseen an educational program designed to train the next generation of dermatopathologists. He has served as Associate Editor of the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and is on the editorial boards of a number of medical journals including the American Journal of Dermatopathology.
Dr. Cockerell attended Texas Tech University for his undergraduate and later Baylor College of Medicine. He graduated from Baylor with honors and completed his residency at New York University Medical Center, serving as chief resident while also receiving training in pathology from Sloan-Kettering Memorial Hospital in New York. Dr. Clay Cockerell serves as founder & medical director Cockerell Dermatopathology in Dallas, TX. Since joining the group in 1988, Cockerell Dermatopathology has grown into one of the nation’s most respected dermatopathology practices by always focusing on the needs of referring clinicians and their patients. |
