Dawn Eichenfield, MD, PhD

Dr. Dawn Eichenfield is a dermatologist at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego and an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at UC San Diego School of Medicine.
Dr. Eichenfield graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she studied biology and psychology, and conducted both immunology and bioengineering research. She then completed a combined M.D. and Ph.D. training program at UC San Diego, where her research garnered multiple awards and publications in prestigious journals. During her residency, Dr. Eichenfield served as chief resident; she went on to complete her fellowship in pediatric dermatology at Rady Children's. Dr. Eichenfield works to advance clinical and translational research through studies focusing on laser medicine and pediatric dermatology. Along with laser surgery, her clinical interests include dermatologic surgery, genetics, birthmarks, vascular skin disorders, acne, warts, molluscum, atopic dermatitis (eczema) and other inflammatory disorders. She is involved in the multidisciplinary Vascular Lesions Clinic and follows patients for their dermatologic concerns. Dr. Eichenfield hopes that her unique background will allow her to offer her patients the most advanced and personalized skin care treatments. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, traveling, cooking and reading with her husband and two daughters.
