Dawn Eichenfield, MD, PhD is a board-certified dermatologist and pediatric dermatologist who specializes in pediatric dermatology and clinical and translational research.
As an assistant professor in the Department of Dermatology at UC San Diego School of Medicine and Division of Adolescent and Pediatric Dermatology at Rady Children’s Hospital, Dr. Eichenfield trains medical students, interns, and residents. Dr. Eichenfield completed her fellowship in pediatric dermatology at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego. During her residency at UC San Diego School of Medicine, she served as chief dermatology resident. Dr. Eichenfield also earned her medical degree and doctoral degree from UC San Diego's medical scientist training program. She obtained her bachelor's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she studied biology and psychology and conducted research in both immunology and bioengineering. Dr. Eichenfield works to advance clinical and translational research through studies focusing on atopic dermatitis, acne vulgaris, alopecia areata, and laser medicine. Her clinical interests include dermatologic surgery, genetics, birthmarks, vascular skin disorders, acne vulgaris, warts, molluscum, atopic dermatitis (eczema), and other inflammatory disorders. She is involved in the multidisciplinary Vascular Lesions Clinic and Tuberous Sclerosis Clinic where she follows patients for their dermatologic concerns. She is a member of many professional societies including the American Academy of Dermatology, the Society of Pediatric Dermatology, and the Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance, among others. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, traveling, cooking and reading with her husband and two daughters. |
