Laura Korb Ferris, MD, PhD received her PhD in immunology from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and her MD from The University of Maryland and completed her residency in dermatology at the University of Pittsburgh. Currently, she is an Associate Professor of Dermatology and Clinical and Translational Science and Director of Clinical Trials at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Ferris directs the psoriasis and pigmented lesions specialty clinics at the University of Pittsburgh. Her research interests include early detection of and screening for skin cancer and she has helped to develop and study the outcomes of a large primary care-based skin cancer screening program in Western Pennsylvania. She is a principal investigator for several clinical trials of novel therapies for skin diseases including psoriasis and atopic dermatitis and technologies for the early detection of skin cancer. She is Vice President of the Pennsylvania Academy of Dermatology and a member of the American Academy of Dermatology Media Expert Team.
