Dr. Swati Kannan is a double board-certified dermatologist, fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic surgeon, and cosmetic dermatologist practicing at UC San Diego Health. She serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Dermatology at the UC San Diego School of Medicine, where she actively trains dermatology residents and procedural fellows in advanced dermatologic surgery.
Dr. Kannan specializes in cutaneous oncology, Mohs micrographic surgery, and complex facial reconstruction, alongside aesthetic treatments including laser and energy-based devices, injectables, and therapies for facial rejuvenation and hair restoration. A dedicated academician and clinical researcher, she has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and textbook chapters, and lectures frequently at national surgical and dermatologic conferences. She is a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS) and the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), as well as a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS).
Dr. Kannan earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and completed her dermatology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. She completed dual fellowship training in Mohs micrographic surgery and cosmetic dermatologic surgery at the UC San Diego School of Medicine.
