Suzanne Olbricht, M.D., F.A.A.D.

Dr. Suzanne Olbricht is Chief of the Department of Dermatology at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Associate Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. As a clinician, Dr. Olbricht’s field of expertise is skin cancer and procedural dermatology, performing Mohs micrographic surgery and reconstruction for skin cancers of the head and neck. Dr. Olbricht has authored 30 original reports, 44 reviews and one book and is editor of two other books. She lectures locally, nationally and internationally on ethics, skin cancer, and surgical techniques.
Dr. Olbricht served as President of the American Academy of Dermatology from 2018 to 2019. Important work she has done for the AAD includes Chair of the Scientific Assembly Committee in 2012 and Secretary-Treasurer from 2010-2016. She received the President’s Award from the Women’s Dermatology Society in 2011 and the Distinguished Service Award of the American College of Mohs Surgery in 2011 and 2015. In 2015 she was director of the Basics of Dermatologic Surgery Course at the World Congress in Vancouver. In 2016 she was the plenary speaker at the Brazilian Congress of Dermatology. In 2017 she was the plenary speaker for the annual meeting of the Philippine Dermatology Society. She is an honorary member of the Spanish Academy of Dermatology and The French Society of Dermatology. In 2019 she recieved the International League of Dermatologic Societies’ Certificate of Merit and the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology Award for International Service. In 2015 Dr. Olbricht was honored at the National Zoo by the Zoo, Senator Angus King, Senator Susan Collins and Congresswoman Chellie Pingree, as well as the AAD, for her energetic facilitation and financial contributions toward a major shade structure at the National Zoo protecting the seating in front of the sea lion exhibit. Calling Abilene Texas home, Dr. Olbricht now lives in Kittery Maine with an apartment in Boston. Admittedly unbalanced, she loves being at work and hates to go home and loves being at home and hates to go to work. She and her husband Kevin Fickenscher, MD have two Glen of Imaal terriers and a cat named Willienelson. She has four children: a doctor, a lawyer, a musician and a postmodern dancer/performance artist. She loves to garden and be surrounded by friends. |
