Dr. Peter A. Lio is a board-certified dermatologist, Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and partner at Medical Dermatology Associates of Chicago. He is the Founding Director of the Chicago Integrative Eczema Center and a founding faculty member of the Integrative Dermatology Certificate Program, specializing in pediatric dermatology, atopic dermatitis, dermatomyositis, and the evidence-based integration of complementary therapies and medical acupuncture into clinical practice.
A nationally and internationally recognized authority on eczema and integrative medicine, Dr. Lio serves on the Scientific Advisory Committee for the National Eczema Association and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology’s (AAD) Atopic Dermatitis Expert Resource Group. He is a prolific researcher and educator who has authored hundreds of peer-reviewed publications and multiple textbooks. His contributions to the specialty have been recognized with an AAD Presidential Citation, the Leader of Distinction Award, and numerous institutional teaching honors.
Dr. Lio earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He completed his pediatric internship at Boston Children’s Hospital, his dermatology residency through the Harvard Combined Dermatology Residency Program—where he served as Chief Resident—and formal medical acupuncture training during his tenure at Harvard.
