Dr. Taraneh Paravar is a board-certified dermatologist, Professor of Dermatology, and the Dermatology Residency Program Director at the UC San Diego School of Medicine. Deeply committed to medical education and clinical leadership, she directs the training and mentorship of dermatology residents and is a core care team member at the UC San Diego Lupus Center.
Dr. Paravar specializes in the management of complex autoimmune blistering disorders and rheumatologic diseases of the skin, including cutaneous lupus, dermatomyositis, scleroderma, morphea, and cutaneous vasculitis. She established UC San Diego Health's first multidisciplinary rheumatology-dermatology clinic to deliver collaborative, comprehensive care for patients with connective tissue diseases, and founded the annual UC San Diego Joint Dermatology-Rheumatology Case Conference. A frequent speaker and published author on cutaneous manifestations of systemic disease, she actively participates in educational panels for regional and national patient support organizations.
Dr. Paravar earned her medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She completed her internal medicine internship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, followed by dermatology residency training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston / MD Anderson Cancer Center.
